Command
tips and tricks
Speaking Commands
· If you see an ellipsis, “…”, at the end of the text you were just
dictating, wait a couple of seconds for it to disappear before speaking.
· Most commands allow variations in their phrasing.
Modes (read this carefully)
Typically, when you have dictation on, the computer will be listening for
dictation only.
In this mode the computer is expecting you to dictate
text, and only occasionally give commands. You can speak commands, but most of
them require you to speak “Computer,” at the beginning of the
command.
If you wish to stop dictation, speak “Stop
dictating.” If you wish to resume dictation then speak “Start
dictating.”

commands.
· Start listening for commands – Causes the computer to listen for

if the computer is only listening for dictation. When the computer is listening
for commands, you don’t have to prefix the commands with “Computer.”
